Matek F765-WSE flight controller preview
Who makes the best fixed-wing flight controllers? Most probably Matek. Their series that begun with Matek F405-WING in 2018 is still going strong. Some models are end-of-line and new ones are created. The Matek F765-WSE is the next generation of Matek WING flight controllers that will appear on the market in late Q3, early Q4 of 2021.
The F765-WSE is the direct replacement of the Matek F765-WING. The original board was discontinued due to a lack of TQFP STM32F765 on the market. The new F765-WSE is build based on BGA package STM32F765 that is much smaller than the TQFP version. Thanks to this, Matek managed to put almost the same functionalities in a smaller form factor.
Comparing to the older and bigger version, the main changes are:
- New gyro. Dual MPU6000/MPU6500 was replaced by a single ICM42605
- STM32F765 in a BGA package
- Smaller form-factor
- The bottom board hosts the STM32F765, gyro, and other electronics
- The bottom board hosts all voltage stabilizers and power supply
- Both boards are connected with an integrated connector (no need to solder any wires)
- SD Card slot is on top of the flight controller and is not easily accessible from the side of the flight controller
Besides that, with F765-WSE offers:
- 12 PWM outputs. Eight motors and four servos in Multirotor mode. Two motors and ten servos in Fixed-Wing mode.
- Internal Baro
- two I2C buses - internal and external
- Built-in MAX7456 analog OSD
- Camera switcher
- ON/OFF configurable voltage output
- 7 hardware serial ports and once SoftwareSerial option
- UAVCAN CANbus support
- SD card support
- 4 analog to digital converters plus 2 additional analog inputs usable by ArduPilot
- LED strips support
