iRangeX IR8M: when you clone too much, but that is not a bad thing after all
I love chinesium and admire chinese manufacturers very much for a simple fact: some time ago they stopped just cloning. They started to create new things based on "legit" ones. Just look at iRangeX iRX-IR8M 2.4G 8CH Multi-Protocol Transmitter.
Doesn't this thing looks almost like Team Black Sheep Tango radio transmitter? Well, it is at least similar. But this is a bad thing? The way I see it, definitely not. It is similar on the outside, but it's not the same. Just the way TBS Tango has similar shape to Sony PlayStation 3 DualShock controller.
On the inside, it's a completely different beast. iRangeX iRX-IR8M 2.4G 8CH Multi-Protocol Transmitter on the inside has:
- Has 4 different radio chipsets inside: CYRF6936, CC2500, NRF2401, A7105
- Can work with:
- DSM/DSMX, JR Pro, Walkera DEVO compatible receivers
- FrSky, Futaba SFHSS compatible receivers
- Flysky AFHDS2A and Hubsan compatible receivers
- Hisky, Syma, Assan and mose other Chinese models based on NRF24L01 radios
- Telemetry support
- Can be powered from 4xAA or 2S LiPo battery
- 8 channels
- 6 switches
- 2 POTs
And has a "reasonable" price tag: $109 without discount, $79.99 in preorder. A little more than Taranis Q X7, but all those protocols...
The only question is: is it any good? No idea, it's just too early to tell. If you will wait 2 more months, I will tell you. I just preordered one iRangeX IR8M. When it arrives (shipping after December 22) I will review it. Yes, I've bought it for my own money. It will not be sponsored and I will not be afraid to tell that this is crap if it is.
