Matek VTX-1G3, VRX-1G3 and ANT-Y1200 ready for testing

The upcoming 1.2GHz FPV system from Matek called 1G3, where VTX-1G3 is the transmitter and VRX-1G3 is the transmitter and ANT-Y1200 is the antenna, are ready for some flights!

So far I have a couple of remarks:

  1. VRX-1G3 fits nicely inside a standard Far Shark receiver bay and you can use the standard bay cover too. SMA connector is in the correct place! The standard cover blocks access to the button that is used to change channels. You can not change channels from the goggles menu.2. ANT-Y1200 has a nice stiff coax cable and you can position it however you want
  2. ANT-Y1200 is much bigger than antennas used for 5.8GHz FPV and it's much harder to find a good place to position it on a model.4. VTX-1G3 is luckily small enough to fit in many places and does not overheat. Even when powered from 4S it stays relative cold (50C) at 28dBm of output power. I got the word it's because of much more efficient energy conversion that is possible with 1.2GHz band

New long-range 1.2GHz video transmitter and receiver from Matek are hot topics of the last few weeks. They seem to be a very interesting proposition for all long-range flyers that are not happy with more popular 5.8GHz FPV systems.

Last week I've connected Matek VTX-1G3 to an RF power meter and this is what came out of this.

Bottom line: this looks like a very decent 1.2GHz FPV system and Matek VTX-1G3 and VRX-1G3 might be what long-range community really needed!

This time, for example, is a pre-production sample of a new FPV transmitter and receiver. This time it's not 5.8GHz but 1.2GHz. Long Range FPV, here I come!

Probably the best feature of Matek 1G3 receiver is that it is Fat Shark receiver module compatible! You can just plug it into your FPV goggles or a ground station receiver like Furious FPV Dock-King!

It comes with Matek made 1.2GHz PCB antennas as well!

Matek F411 Wing SE

Matek likes to release a new FC that is actually significantly different from a previous one every few months. This time it's time of a smallest and the lightest member of a WING family: Matek F411-WING SE. It's a new format for very small foamies and other cheap and simple build while it still provides the same features a bigger F411-WING. Let's see what goes where in the case of F411-WING SE.

Matek F765-WING – 12 PWM outputs and 8A BEC for your airplane

Matek F765-WING is the most powerful (probably) flight controller on the market. OK, technicaly it's not on the market yet since I only have one of the preproduction samples, but it is a powerful design.

Matek F765-WING will be compatible with INAV, Betaflight and Ardupilot. It is based on STM32F765 MCU, has 8 UARTs, 12 PWM outputs, I2C and 6 ADC channels for Vbat, Current, RSSI, AirSpeed. On top of that it holds a 8A BEC that can power all the servos you will ever have on your RC airplane model.

Looks like Mateksys did it again, and the next flight controller in WING family will be one again the beefiest flight controller around! What's new? A lot. It's still the same format as F405-WING and F722-WING, but this time, the top plate is not only a plate. It holds 8A continuous (10A burst) BEC that you have to connect with wires to the main plate. From what I've been told, the step-down chip itself can hold 20A continuous, but due to limited space, the main inductor/choke limits it to 10A only. Well, only is probably not the best world 😉

The brand new is also CPU. Now it is beefy STM32F765 in LQFP-100 package. Beefy because it has 2MB of flash and 512kB of RAM. And thanks to the big package, a lot of peripherals could be broken out:
